The Minimums

The Minimums
By: Courtney Ferguson
I’m still baffled that after spending $500 on groceries I have to do it all over again the following week. I’m literally offended. I stomp into the grocery store like it stole from me. Same goes with the massive piles of laundry that continually need to be cleaned. How dare they. Going as far as smelling the crotch of my toddler's pants, affirming loudly that “these can’t be dirty again” only to find out that they were in fact dirty, and that was gross. I digress.
If you know me, you know I’m an efficient person. I’m most satisfied when I can build a system that allows me to do something once and reap the benefits over & over again. I live for email templates, remote start, and auto-brew coffee. But the truth is - life just doesn’t work that way. The fact is, if I stop buying groceries, my fridge will soon be empty. If I stop doing laundry, my children will soon have no clean clothes. If I don’t clean up the dog shit in my yard I’m eventually going to step in a landmine.
No matter how efficient my systems, I am obliged to take small actionable steps every day to ensure our household stays afloat. When I finally came to this realization I stopped fighting the redundancy & learned to embrace the simplicity of taking action. It wasn’t hard or groundbreaking, but it was boring, and I had to accept that.
A career in real estate is no different. Over the course of my 7 years as a licensed real estate agent & broker, I’ve built an incredible business. I’ve sold million dollar listings and worked with exclusive clients with deep pockets. I cashed an $80,000 commission check from a single sale. But even with so much success, I’ve learned that the boat doesn’t row itself. For years I foolishly thought that one day I’d be able to sit back and watch deals close themselves. I kept waiting to make money in my sleep like other entrepreneurs.
Have you heard the saying “minimums create momentum”. It’s probably the truest statement on earth. Do the work - Reap the benefit. But why do we fight this? Let me tell you a secret. The minimums are boring AF. They are redundant, non creative, and systematic. But they are also incredibly simple. Buy the groceries - enjoy the meal. Do the laundry - have clean clothes. Mow the grass - don’t look like a hillbilly.
So I’m here today to help you prioritize the minimums, both personally and professionally. I can guarantee that if implemented you’ll be running a six figure business in 12 months. I’m telling you, it’s not hard, it’s not expensive, it’s not complicated. I’m excited to share the systems that have brought me much success, but you’re responsible for taking the necessary actions to get there. And don’t smell the crotch of your toddler’s pants - just assume they are dirty.
